Pilates is a method of body conditioning developed by Joseph H Pilates over 90 years ago to strengthen and tone muscle, improving posture, flexibility and balance.
Pilates works on a deep level, working to strengthen core postural muscles and helping to correct body alignment by strengthening the abdominal's, spinal muscles helping to support the back whilst promoting tone.
- A stronger core
- Flatter abdominal's
- Relief from chronic back pain
- Improved posture
- A toned body
- Increased flexibility
People the world over are starting to realize that a healthy body, a healthy mind and a healthy life begins from within.
Pilates shows you that exercise should be an important part of our lives, encouraging energy and enthusiasm and not a negative self-image.
This exercise science brings together body and mind focus, creating a streamlined shape.
Pilates is also a perfect addition to any rehabilitation programme after injury or pre/post surgery as it is designed to work directly with the deepest muscles in the body, creating a strong core.
Strong core strength encourages flexibility reducing the risk of muscle ruptures, jarring impact on joints or exhaustion beyond effectiveness.
In addition expecting or new mothers are advised to maintain good levels of upper body and core strength.
Maintaining good posture is extremely important, which is why Pilates is incredibly beneficial for antenatal and postnatal women as pelvic instability can be the cause of many postural problems following childbirth.
Our Pilates Instructors in WC2Pilates Teacher Covent Garden
New Zealand-born Jenny specialized in her early career as a state registered nurse. After years of strenuous work, working on the wards and following a fall from a horse, her back started to give her problems, interrupting her quality of life. Jenny searched for a better way to control her back pain. This led her to discover Pilates.
After the first session she knew this was the career she wanted to discover and learn. Trained by Peaks Pilates, an American based teaching company, qualified her to be registered with the PMA (pilates method alliance) an international organisation dedicated to preserving the legacy of Joseph Hubertus Pilates. The PMA maintains the highest standard for education and information.
